Once you have made the decision to marry in the Catholic Church, you should contact the parish office, 443-646-5721, to schedule an appointment with the Pastor. This should be arranged at least six (6) months before the date you wish to have your ceremony in order to adequately prepare for your wedding.

"For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." (Eph 5:31-32

ABOUT THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE

Marriage in the Catholic Church is a covenant, forming an unconditional union between a man and a woman before God that will last as long as they both live. Unlike a civil marriage that represents a contract which has conditions agreed to by both parties and can be terminated. The free concent of the couple is at the heart of the marriage celebration. The priest or deacon calls forth this concent, but the marriage itself takes place through the public concent of the couple.

The marriage covenant, by which a man and woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, has been founded and endowed with its own special laws by the Creator. By its very nature it is ordered to the good of the couple, as well as to the generation and education of children. Christ the Lord raised marriage between the baptized to the dignity of a sacrament. -CCC, no. 1660
